One of the worst things about having lots of young kids is that when the flu comes around, it really comes around. First it was Pierce in his car seat, then Garrett in the driveway, then Pierce and Garrett both in their beds, then James in his bed, then Mom and Anna caught it. Fortunately, this one only lasts 24 hours and I am already feeling better. Also, Alexandra hasn't seemed to suffer any from Mom having been ill, and she and Paul haven't caught it yet. Christian has a case in progress but he still went to trail this morning though he is languishing.
We were all nervous about having Grandma Prete leave since we relied on her so heavily while she was here. Last night Anna said it seemed like three weeks since she left, and all the while Mom was here I was thinking it seemed like only a couple of days. Hopefully, Mom, you know how much we apreciated and enjoyed your visit.
Here's a little update on our family:
Paul and James started another round of swimming lessons on Monday. We might sign the three oldest kids up for swim team in January. Anna and Paul are getting ready for a Christmas piano recital in a few weeks. Also, Anna, Paul and James are tring to finish a few Reflections entries due on Monday. Paul is reading almost incessantly lately. He is reading Book 6 now of the harry Potter series which he only started reading a month ago. Pierce and Garrett have enjoyed staying overnight at Grandma Bryner's house while I was sick, and in fact, Garrett is still there because he doesn't want to come home. Alexandra is growing and gaining strength in her neck and legs, more coordination in her movements, and is starting to focus both eyes together and really study what she is looking at. She is already starting to fill out her 0-3 month clothes. Christian has been such an involved Dad lately he has compensated for my shortcomings these last few weeks and expecially during my illness. I attended part of last week's rehearsal for Handel's Messiah and I plan to sing again this year (4th year in a row) though I definitely don't plan to audition for a solo this year. I also just finished a good book by Wendell Berry called Jayber Crow. I'm hoping to read a few more books this year while I will be spending so much time nursing. Any suggestions?
Here are some of the latest photos of our kids. These were taken today. Alexandra is twenty-six days old.

Well, since I only read non-fiction, I will recommend reading Mayflower or Joseph Smith: Rough Stone Rolling. They are incredible histories about some amazing people at key moments that subsequently changed the history of the world, and it is amazing to see God's hand in their lives.
If you have time - I recommend the Twilight series. Definitely fiction and definitely interesting - if you're into vampires.
Get better quick - it's no fun to be sick!
